Last Wednesday I could not post what I had wanted to as the images were still on the CF card in the camera which was i bag at home. Well here I have the images I wanted to talk about then. The Mini-Apollo from F.J. Westcott is a really cool soft box.

The thing is only 16" and stands on a light stand that is holding a speedlight. The speedlight is shooting towards the back of the Apollo reflecting off the silver lining (just like clouds!) and through the diffuser screen. As you can see from the two images below the little sucker works wonders.
In the first image below I had a speedlite mounted on a light stand to camera right, pointing around thirty degrees to the artwork. I took the shot letinmg the camera and flash do it's TTL thing. Bam! big flash even for the "non-glare" glass.

All I did was mount the Mini Apollo. seal it up and took another shot. no changes to the camera position of settings and what a difference. The Mini Apollo while doing a wonderful job at diffusing the light from the speedlite flash, it will underexpose just a little. This would be expected and is not a problem to boost it just a tad in Lightroom or what ever editing software you have.

Westcott shows it as $80 on their website but I picked it up at the my local camera shop (Norman Camera) for something like $62. It is great deal and a nice piece of equipment to have up your sleeve.
There it is folks.
Cya later... Doug
