A second New Life... It's A Blogs Life

If Coke can do it, so can we here. The new Coke was a definite flop in the soft drink industry. So what did they do about it? Back up one step, rebrand what they knew worked and called it Coke Classic. Well this is not that drastic, but it does represent a step in a direction that we ultimately decided was not working as well as what we had previously set up here in Blogger.

The decision to return to Blogger over our in home site was made for a couple of reasons;
  1. Editing the blog is available from where ever I can get online.
  2. I can post from my smart phone if necessary.
  3. You can comment directly on the blog
  4. The Blogger software is web/blog centric while ours was not the primary function of the software.
Ok, so now you know why we have returned. I will be transferring the posts form our other site to blogger as represented by their dates of entry. This should happen over the next couple of weeks.

So let's see where we can go with this.

Take care... Doug

Ride - Just Ride

Today I am heading home with a bunch to get done.
  • Pick up Harley from oil change
  • Plan trip around Lake Michigan
  • Pack (us and bike)
  • Get some cash
  • Line-up Caleb to watch the dog
  • I am sure there is more...
Here is the deal though. I get home around three today and have to get it all done because we are taking off in the morning for a little jaunt around Lake Michigan via the U.P.

We will have fun because the weather should be beautiful the whole time we are gone. The down side is I will be gone when I am normally home from being gone. Not too much to get done this coming week.

From the map above you can see we have some miles to travel this week. We plan on taking the Lake Express from Milwaukee back over to Muskegon on Saturday or Sunday. Woo Hoo!

On a blog note, I am not going to make a big effort to post while we are away but should have some really nice shots when we get back.

Cya then... Doug

Time Flys

Ok so I took some time off from blogging every day. We have been enjoying some time with our children and frankly I have not been putting a lot of importance on the old blog. There were three days last week where the computer was being moved into the office and all the peripheral stuff had to be reconnected.

I was running on dangerous ground for a few weeks as my Time Machine had maxed out one of my drives. I had purchased a one terabyte drive to back-up the 500 gig in the iMac but was waiting to get it into the office to actually start the Time Machine on the 1TB drive.

Don't get too excited that I am back. I am, but not just right now. We are heading out tomorrow and then off to work on Wed. I will be back Wed evening.

CU then... Doug

Bad Blogger

My apologies to anyone who looked at the "FINALLY - Canon Steps Up" post. It must have been in stealth mode but is fixed now.

Going Home

Just a quickie here. I wanted to let you all know that I am in transit today on the way back to Michigan. Evelyn and I have had a wonderful time enjoying the Great Northwest of the Oregon coast and Mt. Hood. I have somewhere around 800 images to go through when we get back. So there will be plenty to pick from. As typical, about 30% of those will be keepers, and 5% will be selects that are really killer shots. This world of digital is really amazing. One of my brothers-in-law are on this trip with a DSLR for the first time. He said the other day that he would go broke if he tried to take this many film shots. No I am not saying that I agree with machine gun shooters, but digital just gets the job done so much more efficiently.

Take care and I'll be back tomorrow... Doug

I'm Still Here

Hey all,

Just a quickie to let you all know I am still here. It was a busy end of the week with getting my porch project as done as I could. We should have it finished up this week and I'll get a pic of it up when it is complete.

Take care... Doug

www.peekfoto.com

Well... It is official! We are on the web. Just one more hat that I have picked up in this photography venture of ours. If you want to see it click on our new web address: peekfoto.com. Don't expect to go anywhere significantly on the website itself as it is only a splash screen at this time. There are two active links on the site. One to this blog and the other to a phanfare site that we put our images up for viewing and purchase.

Ok... So you are wondering why peekfoto rather than peekphoto. The simple and honest truth˙ is that peekphoto was taken in the dot-com world. I did not want a dot-net, dot-org, dot-biz, or any other dot. We talked about peekdigital.com as a truncation of the Peek DIgital Photography name but that was not necessarily descriptive enough for the photographic subject. foto is pronounced the same as photo but is unique enough to be a mind trigger.

So take a look at it over thee next few weeks if you want to follow a web neophyte develop a photographic web site.
