Let's see... That last time I was going to get a post out on Friday. That didn't happen, did it? Actually the day was spent running around getting stuff (literally) for the guys building our deck. Then 5:00 came around and we had to ride (read ride Harley) down to meet some friends for dinner and drags. Yes that is right, dinner and drag racing. I had never been to one in all y years and it was quite the blast. Traffic was a bit much for the inside of my legs as the run about an inch from the cylinder heads on the bike. Ok, this is a no winning zone so I'll stop. We did wait around for about an hour after the race to let the traffic thin out and finally got back to the house about 1:30 am. That was technically Saturday morning and a make-up post is kind of senseless I think.
On with the show! As I am back down in Columbus, OH this week I was able to bring my gear to do some shooting. I did not waste any time as I hooked up with some work buddies for dinner and then went out to find something to shoot. I have been wanting to play around with night shooting and light trails and such so this would be an opportunity.

This image is of the COSI building in Columbus Ohio. COSI is an acronym for Center of Science and Industry. fancy name for a museum eh? I drove downtown and parked the car, broke out the EOS 40D with the EF 24-105 f/4.0 L IS lens attached, my tri-pod with the Really Right Stuff ball head. I also grabbed the EF 16-35 f/2.8 L USM lens. That packed really well into the ball head cover bag. I was able to use the tri-pod foe a number of reasons. First it was 9:20 on a Sunday night, second and most important I was there and gone before any official looking people were able to stop me.
The shot was take with the EF 16-35 f/2.8 at 17 mm and f/16. Shooting in manual, the shutter speed was at 3.2 seconds. I used the 2 second self timer so I would not introduce any shake into the exposure by pressing the shutter release. The COSI logo on the top of the image is from another image that I made a selection and dropped it on this image.
Hey, it is well past bedtime but I wanted to get something out the first thing this week.
Take care all... Doug
