PocketWizard

There has been much talk and ballyhoo in the past about the PocketWizard Flex TT5 and TT1 reliability as a wireless solution for ETTL. As these little devices have firmware to them, it seams the folks at PocketWizard have addressed some of the issues. Now I have not tried to go to the advertised limits of this solution, I have had good service and as of  this point I have no complaints.
I had these out for a spin last week and the setup was somewhat interesting. First they are setup as a speedlite to TT5 there is no problem. If the speedlite and TT5 is going to mount to a Lastolite EZbox then you have a problem. The TT5 has to be mounted somewhere other than to the speedlite. See the following photo.

The TT5 will not mount to the EZbox so it must be cabled (not included) to the speedlite. Not a big issue except for the trip to the Camera shop and picking up the cabling.

In the above image you can see the TT5 strapped to the light stand with the cable coming out of the P2 socket. In the image below is the shoe for the speedlite which then mounts to the EZbox.

I ended up using both the TT5 to drive two speedlites. One was Key and operating in ETTL and the other was just being triggered by the TT5 as I had it in manual and using it fro a fill/hair light. Below is an example of the two light set-up:
