Christmas in January

Wacom Bamboo pen tablet:
Ok so Christmas is come and gone but my wife and I have yet to go see her family in Illinois. Normally it is one of those gift exchange things but one of my brothers-in-law is a crazed shooter with a Nikon D200. I have another that is still shooting his Hazicazamoto 35MM that he pick-ed up before he came home from Viet Nam (sorry to date you there bro). Anyhow my Nik shooter bro does these wild composites that are truly Photoshop Art than anything else. The problem is that he is stuck in the binary dark ages (as computing goes) running an older Windows machine with CS2, and he only uses a ma..ma..mouse as his pointing device. While he is a great bro and all a full Intuos tablet (I love, love, love mine by the way) is going to run three plus bills and who know, he might be so stuck on the mouse that he will resist the transition to the tablet. Ok, that might be a little stretch but you know what I mean. Well maybe not, I might just be cheap. I can accept that.

So I went looking for a Wacom Bamboo to let him test the waters. I saw one in Columbus last week and figured the Apple store in Grand Rapids MI would have one as well. So off to the Apple store we go. I ask one of the normally very helpful Apple sales people if they had a Wacom Bamboo pen tablet. To which the dude says he never heard of it... "Is it software?" I say "You have got to be kidding, Wacom is only the largest producer of pen tablets in the universe... HELLO!" Of course his answer was most predictable - "No". With a great disappointment in the Apple staff I shuffle off to Best Buy.

Before I had left the house I did a search for the product on the Best Buy website and found the store closest to the Apple store had one in stock bus I am such an Apple nut, I wanted to give them my business first. Well, BB had the Bamboo and $99 later I have a gift for my Nikon shooting brother-in-law.

Until tomorrow!
Doug
