Thanksgiving is that unique time of year that we in the U.S. as a citizenry are able to take a couple of days and recognize who we are, why we are, what we are, and most importantly who mad it all possible.
Without getting all political and religious I found a book in my office project that I will share more about at a later date but it was published in 1884 and is the autobiography of one of our founding fathers. It was originally authored in the late 1700's in France but finally translated an published in english in the early 18oo's.
While the founding fathers did not have much to do with the first Thanksgiving Feast, just the re-discovery of this book make me pause to realize the courage and fortitude that men much better than I had displayed so a dream could be realized by a people whom they would have no knowledge of.
Those who were present at that original feast were there to escape an oppressive government controlled solely by the Church of England. It was through their struggles and victories that we have this unique body of individual and autonomous but yet united regions of land we call the United States.
I will stop my rambling but jut keep in mind when you are watching the parades, or the Lions getting spanked, or setting down for that turkey dinner, who made it possible for you to be here.

Give thanks to God on this special day for His creation
and Jesus Christ for His suffering and payment for
our iniquities against a perfect and holy God.
Take care all and enjoy the feast!
Doug
