onOne On The Run

This is going to seem like I am on a roll with onOne Software being the second day in a row that I am blogging about it. Yesterday the DSLR Remote application and today the onOne Plug-In Suite for Photoshop.

Back a couple of months ago I was over in Detroit at a one day seminar on Lightroom with Scott Kelby. Before the session and during the breaks there are a number of vendors on the lobby displaying their wares, onOne being one of them. The nice thing about seminars and such is there are usually pretty deep discounts by the vendors while at the seminar so if you are in the market, its a great time to buy. I have owned a couple of the onOne products for a couple of years and told the guy what I had. Of course he made me a deal I could not refuse and I picked up the Plug-In Suite 4 at a cost that was the difference between what I had and the cost of the suite minus 20% (basically the discounted rate at the seminar). With it came a free upgrade to the Plug-In Suite 5 which was cool.

The only problem with all this software is that the capabilities are so vast, the learning curve is rather steep. Not from a knowledge base but from the perspective of seeing what all the adjustments do within each plug-in. It is funny because when ever you install new software there is a sucking in where you just have to jump in and see what it can do. I was familiar with Genuine Fractals, PhotoFrame, and Mask Pro but the FocalPoint was going to be new. I have a Lensbaby and FocalPoint does a nice job replicating what the Lensbaby can do. Not exactly but it can be applied to any image. Way cool stuff.

I promise I will not post about onOne for the rest of the week now.
