So you ask... "Where is Peek going with this?"
I have been a firm believer most of my life that true laziness breads efficiency and thus a productive workflow. Case in point. Do you type a thought to it's conclusion and then spellcheck the page or document, or do you correct a word each time the little squiggly red line shows up under a word. I contend that the one who checks after the thought is conveyed is a more efficient communicator in that the complete thought had been put to paper (or screen) in one fluid cognitive effort. The simple mechanics of spell checking is left for another process in an efficient workflow (is that a repetitive statement or what!).
To answer your question on where I am going with this, here it is. I had purchased Photoshop and Lightroom together and loaded them up on the iMac. Of course I did not have a clue as to where Lightroom fit into the whole PS process. And yes at this point it was a process and not a workflow. I attended a NAPP daylong seminar with Scott Kelby on Lightroom in Chicago one day and came away still wondering where it all fit in.
What it caem down to was trial and error. Mostly error but I am in good company if you thing about what Mr. Edison went through with the lightbulb. Hmmm... lightbulb... Lightroom. Na! Can't be any parallels there. Anyhow I found that what I had come up with is a conglomeration of the workflows a numebr of different shooters which is shown below.
1 - Capture
2 - Filter 1 (Deselects in the import dialogue)
3 - Download
4 - Filter 2 (Blurs & Bads Select as rejects)
5 - Keyword & Collections
6 - Back-up to CD/DVD
7 - Remove card to be formated in the camera
8 - Lightroom
a. Filter 3 (Picks & Rejects))
b. Filter 4 (Selects & Best)
c. Deletes (all others)
d. Develop Module
- Adjust in Lightroom
- Edit in PS if necessary (always as a stacked copy)
e. Filter for Print and Web
f. Print Module
g. Web Module

Doug
