Hey... Here is one for the road, so to speak. My wife and I work with a bunch of other adults (great people BTW) on Wednesday nights with 1st through 6th graders and tonight is our annual Awards Ceremony.
As we all sat down a couple of weeks ago for a planning meeting I was to call around for a giant flag to hang in the front of the church as this is what we did a number of years ago with the same theme. I made the calls to no avail and have been pondering what would be good in the front of the church.
This morning it dawned (pun intended) on me that why reproduce what we did with the flag and come up with something different. The theme is Olympics as the is the Word of Life Olympian Club. Soooo... I got online and downloaded just about all the Olympic logos from 1923 to present. I did learn something though. The five colored rings we are so accustomed to seeing was first displayed during the 1900 Olympics in Paris France. Anyhow I dropped them all into Keynote and then needed a slide for the show to hold on for the rest of the ceremony.

What you see above is what went on that slide. I found a flag and dropped some text onto it made a selection of the text on the flag layer and booted it to a new layer (Cmd-J). I did the same thing with the rings and then followed up those layers with a layer style with a drop shadow and a bevel and embossed edge effect. Finally I dropped the opacity of the flag to make the name and rings pop off the screen.
Guess I will have to let you know hoe it turns out.
Doug
