Just A Quickie

My plan for the post today was a five image pano of this view. My room was ion the sixth floor and I always try to find a high enough vantage point to grab some unique imagery. Up on the top floor was the concierge level that was actually a floor of rooms and a stairway to a banquet area that had doors that went out to an open deck on the roof and associated heli-pad. So I was getting really stoked when the doors were unlocked to the deck.

Once out on the deck this wonderful view of the landscape was revealed. From the deck out to the heli-pad was a walkway that went to the corner of the building. This gave me a rather wide sweep for a pano. I took two series, one overlooking the harbor and the other to the north that took in all of the Hollywood hills from Malibu to Pasadena, a clear thirty miles of landscape. But that is in another post.

Adobe to the blockade. I took the images of the harbor in Lightroom and went to run them in Photoshops panorama utility and sure enough I ran in to the Lightroom 2.2 (using ACR 5.2) to CS3 (using ACR 4.6) problem. It disgusts me to no end when software developers force upgrading. Yes, CS4 is in the future but every time I run into this problem I feel like not upgrading just to spite Adobe but that's just going to mess up my productivity.

Sooo, you will have to wait to see some really great shots in pano of Southern California.

Have a great weekend all... Doug
