Sorry for the interruption to the Who... What... Where... series but we have had some important activity along the home front. Read on!

Measuring 19 1/2 inches and weighing in at 9 pounds 3 ounces a grandson was born. New life is truly amazing to see. I was fortunate to be present for all three of our children's entrance on this rock and am blessed to be in the group of humanity known as grandparent. Unfortunately I was not able to be even in the same state when little Levi made his grand entrance. Grama E was however close by.
To see the gift of life was comforting for us on this, a bitter sweat day. Our older dog, a Golden Retriever named Chip has been cheating death for the past year and a half.

That was until today. I was notified by our dog/house watchers on Friday night that Chip was doing well. When I got home Sunday afternoon, I saw for myself that Chip had given up the "will" to live. He had selected the place in the house to rest until he expired. Sniper, our Aussy just gave Chip his space. Somehow he knew what Chip knew.
It was ironic that the photo of Levi was showing up on my phone while I was with the Vet lightly rubbing the soft fluffy hair on Chip's head. He came to us with a fluffy head and that is how he would leave us.
I could leave it at that and just make this a tribute to the glory of life and the finality of death but I want to take this moment to say what is in my heart.
As hard as it was to take a pet, and have him euthanized. I can not even conceive what goes though ones mind when an abortion is performed on one of Gods magnificently and uniquely designed human creations. Some hard numbers for you now. Between 1973 and 2005, 45 million abortions have been performed in the United States. To make this number a little more understandable, it breaks down like this:
- 1,406,250 abortions each year
- 3,852.7 abortions per day
- 160.5 abortions per hour
What those numbers mean is that in the United States, we are taking a human life, every 22 seconds a life was being eliminated during that period of time (1973-2005). How dare we as a nation point our fingers at countries for lacking human rights when we deny the most innocent even the right to life.
Shame on us!
Doug
P.S. Welcome aboard Levi James!
