Pod Casting

About a year and a half ago I became addicted. I became like Johnny Five of Short Circuit fame. Input... More Input!

It started with Photoshop User TV with is a video podcast but podcast none the less. A quick search on iTunes for photographic podcasts turned me into a ravenous dog that hit the puppy chow mother-load. I had to have more input!

I have an iPod Touch that I uses and it has become my best friend on long car rides, airline flights and waits in terminals. There are many podcasts that I have gone back and downloaded all editions from their beginning. It is really interesting to listen to these audible editions of photographic information and sometimes banter. To the point that you seam to get to know the people on the other end. Yes that sounds a little weird, I know.

Have you ever been alone watching TV and laugh hilariously all by yourself. Try that driving down the highway. Did I say it is just a little weird?

Anyhow this is a tremendous medium to lean a bunch in a compressed amount of time. Learn what others are doing and thinking, biases to believe and blow off, and techniques and tricks that can actually help you photography.

One such thought I heard yesterday while driving to Columbus regarding the movement towards video in DSLR's was this; "Video is about compressing a moment in time and a still photo is about expanding a moment in time." Now there was some deep thought to soak in!

But really it was a profound thought. Think about it! When watching a video you are gathering gobs of information at a rate of 30 frames per second. Now with a still, you have many moments to absorb all aspect of the image. No movement, just pure still imagery.

Hey... That's about all the thought I can muster on this one folks!

Cya tomorrow... Doug
